Social Media Intern/Volunteer

Summary

Do you love social media? Dabble in graphic design? Have a way with stories and words?


Then we want you. GMC is looking for a part-time, remote Social Media Intern/Volunteer to assist with campaigns on our social networking sites and website. The Social Media Intern/Volunteer will have the opportunity to create and implement online marketing and engagement campaigns, including designing social media graphics.


Responsibilities

Social Media & Website

  • Creates posts, updates, news, and announcements for GMC’s Instagram, Facebook and Twitter accounts

  • Works with GMC staff to respond to posts or comments

  • Designs graphics for social media, website, and other events or materials as needed (Canva designs preferred)

  • Grows GMC online social networks by increasing fan base and interaction

  • Maintains current information on LinkedIn Group account

  • Completes other social media projects as assigned


Research

  • Performs research to find articles, stories, resources, or other content that is relevant to our user base to create posts that invite on our social media pages

  • Regularly observes the online activity of model organizations’ research and reports on social media “best practices”

  • Completes other research projects as assigned


Analytics and Reporting

  • Assesses trends and activity on the GMC website

  • Uses various built-in analytics tools to assess engagement on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram

  • Reviews data on the performance on social media platforms and adjust plans to optimize reach


Requirements

  • Candidates should be available to work online 5-10 hours per week, with preference for Friday mornings.

  • Creative self-starter who is comfortable with working as part of a team, as well as independently.

  • Detail oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience with GoogleDrive, Microsoft applications, and Canva. Experience with Hubspot a plus.

  • Interns based in Washington, DC a plus.
