About the Wabi Sabi Writers' Group
The Grandmother Collective is launching a new writers' group on February 25th and we thought you might be interested in joining us. We will call ourselves Wabi Sabi Writers.
Wabi Sabi is a worldview that originated in Japan that is based on a few simple truths: Nothing is perfect. Nothing lasts forever. Nothing is ever finished. To live with wabi sabi means maturing as a human being and embracing each stage of life. So, we accept things as they are. We enjoy imperfections and accept our failures.
Wabi sabi seems like a great way for grandmothers to look at ourselves and inspire us to write our legacy stories, memoir, and tales of joy and sorrow. We will give ourselves permission to share our imperfections and embrace our failures as well as the successes that have shaped us.
The purpose of this group coming together is to actually write and facilitate our writing. In our 90 minutes together each month, you will get tips and tools to facilitate your writing, prompts and assignments that will put your pen in motion – getting words on the page. What you do with your stories and essays will be up to you. You may want to share your stories and essays on the Grandmother Collective Substack page or gift them to your family or hide them under your mattress. Your choice.
If you have been “meaning to” write your stories but always seem to get distracted and can’t decide where to start, join us on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at 11 AM EST.

All Welcome!
In the Grandmother Collective, we use “grandmother” as a title that signifies wisdom, strength, and joy. It is not limited to those who have children or grandchildren. If you feel called to be a part of the Wabi Sabi Writers Group, you belong here.
